Join Yoga and Movement pioneer Marcia Miller and Natureza Gabriel for a 3-hour deep-dive into the neurophysiology of restoration. This class is intended not uniquely for caregivers, but will have an emphasis on supporting people who support others. We'll look at the particular neurophysiological signatures of the kinds of depletion that come from helping others, formally (e.g., as a wellness practitioner) and informally (e.g., as a caregiver, friend, community member, etc.)
We will then explore a range of restorative and movement practices based on the autonomic signatures of the particular depletion we are experiencing. This approach is more precisely prescriptive in terms of identifying the neuroceptive (safety vs. danger), metabolic, neurological, and chemical cues of different kinds of depletion, because these inform how we address supporting ourselves to recover.
This workshop is intended to provide an experience of the kind of work we will be doing at our retreat in California from April 23-27, 2025.
