A mystery of Curiosity + Love
As you may have noticed from some of the readings I’ve sent in the past this year, I’m really enjoying working with the unwanted parts of myself with tenderness and curiosity and this translates into being more available to do it with you and my other clients. It’s as if those young parts are calling out for acceptance and love and I can hear them. So, when they show up in you, we don’t slide right past them, though it’s easy enough to do that, we linger with them and see what their messages might be. Often enough their messages are ones of fear and judgment. They REALLY need something to be controlled, to be a certain way, in order for them to be safe. Sometimes, they need to be doing the controlling. These young parts often show up as contractions somewhere in the body. In recent sessions these parts have showed up as a clenched fist in the head, a tightness in the belly, tension in jaw, tension in third eye, and more. Each one of these locations/metaphors were uncomfortable to experience and yet, each had important messages to offer the dancers. And by being present to these parts, almost always a big opening follows—one of relief and freedom. By attending to the parts, they seem to sigh and integrate a bit. Something I said to a client the other day felt really true to both of us—It’s not a quandary to be figured out, but a mystery of curiosity and love. Presence is the practice. Nothing more, except a few good questions, is needed.
